How to Create New Entities

To create new entities, follow these points below:

For Single Entities

Single entities allow admins to create and manage unique data identifiers with customizable attributes such as severity, sensitivity, and regex patterns for accurate identification and protection.

  • Click "+Add New Entity" to open the entity creation box.

  • Choose the option "Single Entity".

  • Add your Entity ID and Entity Name. For example: VIN.

  • Select "Entity Tags" from the drop-down menu. If you want to create custom tags, check the "Custom Entity Tags" box and start creating.

  • Choose the "Severity levels" from the drop-down menu (Low, Medium, High, Critical, None) and select "Sensitivity" (Public, Confidential, Internal, None) based on the dataset information.

  • Enter keywords related to your entity.

  • Write the pattern to add in the entity Regex and fill the actual data in the Test String. Click "Test Regex" to validate the entity regex.

  • Click "Create" to add the new entity in the system.

Note: Entity Regex is the pattern definition used to search for specific data formats. Test String is the actual data you use to check whether the regex pattern correctly identifies the desired entity.

For Combination Entity

Combination entities allow admins to create entities that combine multiple individual entities to form a more complex and specific data structure. This can help further classify sensitive information with more accuracy by defining relationships between entities using logical operators like "AND" and "OR."

  • Click "+Add New Entity" to open the entity creation box.

  • Once it opens, choose the option "Combination Entity".

  • Add your Entity ID and Entity Name. For example: VIN.

  • Select "Entity Tags" from the drop-down menu. Click on the "Custom Entity Tags" box to create customizable entity tags.

  • Choose "Severity levels" from the drop-down menu (Low, Medium, High, Critical, None) and select "Sensitivity" (Public, Confidential, Internal, None) based on the dataset information.

  • Click the "Create" button to add the combination entity to the system.

Note on "AND" and "OR" Rules: To add "AND" and "OR" rules to entities, use the dedicated boxes. The "AND" rule will require both entities to exist together, while the "OR" rule will allow either entity to meet the condition for it to be valid.

Editing an Entity

Editing an already created entity is straightforward.

  • To edit an entity, first select the chosen entity row, then navigate to the "Action" column and click the "Edit" button in the row.

  • A window will appear where you can customize the details of the created entity. Once you've made the necessary changes, click "Update" to resubmit the updated entity details.

Note: The regex type (Single/Combination) cannot be changed after the entity is created. You can only modify the other details of the entity in the edit window.
